Sri Lanka —> NYC

Back from an amazing adventure through Sri Lanka, I’ve made it back home to NYC. What to say about Sri Lanka… It was hot, crowded, everyday was a new adventure… My kind of place. From the ubiquitous presence of the 3 wheeled Tuk-Tuks to the lava hot “mild” spicy curries, this country is a whole another world in itself.

But no time to rest up and reflect on what I’ve experienced, the people I met and photographed, and the places I’ve seen. I’m booked up with shoots and have a busy 2 weeks ahead of me. I’m extremely excited to say I’m shooting a great ad job for an international client next week that has spawned from, none other then my personal work.

Regardless, here are some quick highlights from Sri Lanka:

-Tuk Tuks
You’ll see them everywhere in Sri Lanka. They are 3 wheeled motorcycle-esque taxis that can take you anywhere. I’ve been plenty of countries with tuk-tuks, are there is definelty no shortage of them in Sri Lanka.

-Sri Lanka trains and stations.                                                                                            Amazing and absolutely beautiful way to see the country and strike up conversations with your fellow Sri Lankan. There will usually be vendors hopping on and off the train selling (very) SPICY apples to spicy mixed nuts. This was by far my favorite way to travel in Sri Lanka.

-Meeting strangers.  Then staying in their village with them.                                                     Walking around a town one day I was talking to and photographing strangers. It was 3-4 days into Sri Lanka and I was starting to really feel it and getting into taking pictures there. Somwhere along the day I meet this man on the street who’s in the Sri Lankan navy, I ask him a few questions about Kandy (the town I was currently in) and we end up having tea together. Next thing I know, he invites me to his village to stay with his wife and rest of his family for a few days. It was one of my most memorable experiences in Sri Lanka.

I have lots of images form Sri Lanka to edit, but it’s gonna have to take a backseat for a few weeks. Gonna be busy prepping for this next job. In the meantime, here are a few images. Enjoy!
